Teaching & mentorship
Whether I'm lecturing on protein structure, helping an undergraduate student submit their first cluster job, or teaching a high schooler how to pipette, I hope to communicate the wonder of scientific discovery through my teaching. At both MIT and Yale, I've had numerous opportunites to continually grow in my teaching practice, whether through giving a lecture on single molecule techniques, designing an online RNAfold activity, or leading a strawberry DNA extraction lab. More recently, I've been mentoring students on their own research projects and have been enjoying seeing them apply creative ideas.

Research Mentor
I am currently mentoring 2 undergraduate researchers on large-scale bioinformatics projects to study noncoding RNA conservation and structure in primates (2025-present). I previously mentored a graduate researcher in the lab on HOTAIR regulation of gene expression (2024).
Science Instructor & Curriculum Designer
I designed and taught multiple interactive science classes for international high school students at a summer camp.

Beautiful Biology: From DNA to Proteins
This was my favorite course to design - a hands-on introduction to computational and experimental molecular biology for high school students. Each student was assigned their own gene and analyzed it across the layers of DNA, RNA, and protein as the week progressed, culminating in final presentations.

I participated in a pedagogical training program for 2 years, growing in my personal teaching practice. I also helped equip other students and postdocs by facilitating interactive pedagogical workshops and providing in-classroom consultations.
Graduate Teaching Fellow
I designed curriculum components, held weekly office hours, and led a weekly discussion section. Most of all, I enjoyed helping students debug their data analysis code in Mathematica; for some of them, it was their first time coding!
